Thailand’s Revenue Department has announced its intention to launch a Blockchain-based system for tracking tax payments. The news was published in the Bangkok Post on November 5th.
The general director of the revenue department, Eckniti Nititanpapas, stated that the Blockchain technology will provide effective and reliable verification of the validity of tax payments paid. Also, the technology will speed up the tax refund process.
Machine science, in turn, will help identify tax fraud and increase transparency, Nititanpapas said. Further, the official noted that the digital tax collection system based on modern technologies is one of the main priorities of the government.
Having previously held the position of economic adviser at the Financial Policy Department of the Ministry of Finance of the country since 2015, Nititanpapas did not say when exactly the test version of the system will be launched and what other technologies and solutions will be used.
