IBM and Veridium Intend to Launch Blockchain Platform for Tracking the Level of Carbon in the Atmosphere
IBM reported that it has entered into a partnership agreement with Veridium Labs. As it became known on May 15, the goal of cooperation is the creation of a system and tokens for companies that work with carbon and need a platform for monitoring carbon.
Veridium’s CEO Todd Lemons said that Blockchain technology will control carbon emissions and avoid global warming:
“Veridium’s collaboration with IBM not only transforms the carbon markets, but also creates an economically sustainable funding source for conservation through a results-based payments model – a good first step towards the new ‘regenerative economy.”
It should be noted that support for the Veridium token has already been provided by some environmental assets, such as Triple Gold REDD + from InfiniteEARTH.
A representative of IBM Blockchain noted that Blockchain technology has great potential and can be used to improve the world:
“IBM is continuing its commitment to environmental stewardship through its engagement with Veridium. The Veridium token issuance may not only present a powerful solution for environmental offsets, but open up new funding opportunities for critical initiatives such as Infinite-Earth’s rainforest reserve. IBM believes innovative technologies like blockchain can make the world a better place.”
