Web browser Opera for Android announced the launch of the beta version with a built-in cryptocurrency wallet. The official press release was published on July 11.
It is worth noting that the company Opera is already actively working with the cryptocurrency space. Earlier this year, the browser received an additional tool that helps prevent the illegal use of equipment for the production of cryptocurrency.
It is reported that the built-in cryptocurrency wallet for Opera will support the Ethereum Web3 API. Also, the wallet will be able to automatically add tokens to the user’s account.
Product Manager Charles Hamel said that “becoming the first major browser to open up to Web 3.0,” Opera is making “the internet of the future more accessible:”
“Our hope is that this will accelerate the transition of cryptocurrencies from speculation and investment to being used for actual payments and transactions in our users’ daily lives.”
The Opera Mini browser, designed for Android, was launched in 2015. Then the company announced its intention to expand the customer base to 250 million users within 2 years.
