As reported in an official statement on May 15, Microsoft Bing intends to prohibit the placement of cryptocurrency advertising on its resources. It is worth noting that the company decided to support other major Internet corporations in this matter.
The management of the company justifies this decision by the fact that at this stage the cryptocurrency sphere is not regulated, which significantly increases the possible risks in this area:
“Because cryptocurrency and related products are not regulated, we have found them to present a possible elevated risk to our users with the potential for bad actors to participate in predatory behaviors, or otherwise scam consumers.”
According to the official statement, the ban will be fully implemented within the system before the beginning of July this year.
It should be noted that Bing is one of the last major Internet services, which took such a decision. Earlier this year, the ban was introduced by the Facebook Corporation, and in March the initiative was supported by Google and Twitter.
At the same time, one of the co-founders of LinkedIn is sure that such prohibitions are temporary since this sphere remains unsettled at the moment.
