September 21 Reuters reported that Bitmain presented an updated version of its ASIC chip for Antminer equipment used for mining cryptocurrency.
Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) is part of the specialized equipment that uses a hash algorithm for the production of cryptocurrency.
According to the data, the general director of Bitmain Cihan Wu announced the release of a new chip ASIC BM1391 during his speech at the World Summit on Digital Chess in Georgia. Wu said that the company began mass production of the chip and intends to integrate it into its new generation Antminer devices.
It is reported that the new chip uses the SHA256 algorithm, which allows to significantly accelerate the operation of the device. Also, the chip was developed using innovative semiconductor technology. Using the technology allows you to effectively combine transistors in a circuit and reduce power consumption.
Wu said that taking into account the development of the industry and the growth of Blockchain traffic, there is a need to increase the processing power to maintain the necessary traffic speed. In his opinion, the development of new computing technologies should be closely linked with the development of Blockchain, which will effectively solve the problems of the industry.
